Students should bring a clear or mesh backpack, pencils, blue or black pens, loose-leaf paper, pencil case, erasers, sharpener, scissors, glue sticks, colored pencils or markers, highlighters, composition book, and 3 spiral notebooks.
Dismissal begins promptly at 4:05 PM. Please avoid pick-up and drop-off on Wesconnett Boulevard or Bob Lockett Drive because those areas are not supervised.

Good afternoon, Raider Nation families.
Every now and then, we get to witness something that reminds us who we are at our core.
Raider Nation is more than a school. We are a family. We are a village. We are a community where people see a need, step toward it, and work together to serve our scholars.
Those who know Dean Lewis know this well: when she sees a gap, she does not simply talk about it. She rallies. She organizes. She advocates. She moves with purpose. And this time, that purpose became partnership.
Through the efforts of Mrs. Lewis and her husband, Mr. Lewis, Westside Middle School was able to collaborate with the men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, to support families who may need assistance with school uniforms.
Last year, our SAC Committee voted to transition our uniform vendor to RC Uniforms. As a uniform school serving a beautifully diverse community, we recognize that while uniforms help create consistency, structure, and pride, some families may need additional support. This generous donation allows us to assist some of our families with the greatest need so that our students can walk into school prepared, confident, and ready to focus on what matters most: learning, growth, and academic achievement.

3. Transportation Updates
Transportation information has been updated in Parent Portal/FOCUS. Please check each student’s account.

This section provides morning and afternoon bus information. Please read carefully because AM and PM routes may be different. Families may see information listed as Route 1 AM and Route 4 PM.
Bus routing is based on the address listed in FOCUS. Please make sure your address is current.

4. Morning Drop-Off / Intake
The morning drop-off and intake process has not changed from last year. Student supervision begins at 9:05 AM. Drop-off before 9:05 AM is discouraged.
Car riders, buses, walkers, and bike riders will enter from Bob Lockett Drive. School security and staff will direct traffic at the three-way stop.
Buses will continue to the bus loop. Car riders will turn left onto Jeb Stuart Lane, drop off at the end of the gated area with a school official, and exit back to Wesconnett Boulevard. Walkers and bike riders will be directed to intake gates at designated crosswalks.
5. School Supplies
Students should report with:
Clear or mesh backpack, #2 pencils, blue or black pens, loose-leaf paper, pencil case, erasers, small sharpener, scissors, glue sticks, colored pencils or markers, highlighters, composition book, and 3 spiral notebooks.
Optional donations: hand sanitizer and boxes of tissue.
All backpacks must be clear or mesh.
6. Dismissal Procedures
Dismissal begins promptly at 4:05 PM. Pick-up should occur in the open area near the gated portion of Jeb Stuart Lane or along Jeb Stuart Lane. Please avoid pick-up or drop-off on Wesconnett Boulevard or Bob Lockett Drive, as those areas are not supervised.
Dismissal occurs in waves:
Wave 1: Walkers/Bike Riders exit at Jeb Stuart Lane
Wave 2: Car Riders exit at the center gate of the car rider lane
Wave 3: First wave of bus riders
Wave 4: TEAM-UP and athletes report to the cafeteria
Wave 5: Second wave of bus riders and late buses
TEAM-UP does not begin until August 24, 2026.
