Hello Parents,
As we prepare to celebrate the upcoming Veteran's Day holiday, we are asking students and school employees to bring in a 5x7 or 8x10 copy of a photograph, color or black or white, of a family member(s), in uniform, who served in one of the branches of our military. We request a copy of your photo, not the original, so we can glue it to our board. On the back of the photo please write the following-
Person's name,
Years they served,
Branch of the military
Student/staff name to return photo to
Place your picture in your student's homework folder no later than Wednesday Nov 6th. This will give us time to display it on our Military Wall of Honor. If you have any questions, please call Chimney Lakes Elementary School.
Respectfully,
Christina Harris

Hello CLE Families & Care Givers,
I hope you are having a good day. Wanted to let you know that tomorrow is an Early Dismissal Day. It's our first one of the school year. We will begin dismissing our car riders at 12:40 pm, Park and Pick Up at 12:45 pm and Walkers at 1:00 pm. Please make sure you adjust your schedule for these times.
Duval County Public Schools will close schools for students on Thursday, September 26th and Friday, September 27th for Hurricane Helene, which is supposed to cause excessive flooding and high winds in our area. We will return to school on Monday, September 30th. Please take precautions for you and your family.. The nearest shelter is Chaffee Trail Elementary, if needed.
Due to these closures, we will not have our STEAM/Science Fair Night on Thursday, 9/26. If you have parent conferences scheduled for these days, please reschedule as soon as possible.
Hope you stay safe and we'll see our students next Monday.

Good Day Chimney Lakes Families & Care Givers,
I wanted to let you know of an incident today that happened at school. Around 9 am this morning, a student decided to leave the classroom without permission. We have a system in which the teacher notifies administration immediately to get assistance. However, today, the teacher, in error, pressed the notification button too frequently, which caused the lockdown procedures.
Students and staff are perfectly fine. They did exactly what they should have done in these cases. I truly applaud them for their actions. Please know, there are no threats to our school or our students. While I know this is scary for parents, we do want you to know, they are safe at school.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the office at 904.573.1100.
Sincerely,

Hello CLE Families & Care Givers,
Hope you're staying dry with all of these rain showers we are getting! This is Principal Lee letting you know what's going on at CLE this week.
*Recorders for Sale (grades 3-5)...are $6 each and available on School Cash Online. Our music teacher, Ms. Lodge, would like for every 3rd-5th grader to have their own recorder. This is their first music instrument for students to practice on. If you have difficulty with purchasing, please connect with Ms. Lodge at
lodgek@duvalschools.org.
*Birthday Celebrations: We know you want to celebrate your student on their birthday.. However, we do have to honor instructional time for all students. Therefore, families may ONLY bring store-bought cupcakes or treats during the child's lunch. Balloons, flowers, and other deliveries are not allowed. (This also includes on a regular day.)
*Fall Pictures are FRIDAY! On this message is the schedule of when your child's teacher will take their class to get photos. All students will take a photo whether or not you order. However, if you wish to order, please do so in the envelope previously distributed.
Last Friday was our first Cheetah Chat for our 3rd-5th grade students. K-2 students will have their Cheetah Chat after finishing their Blended Learning testing. Students meeting their grade level standards will receive a fun dog tag from me. We love when our students meet their goals!
*A BIG THANK YOU for all of our families for helping us meet our Book Fair goal of over 2000 books sold and over $17,000 in sales. The most important thing is having books in our students hands. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Finally, we are using School Cash Online for field trips, recorders, donations and much more this year. You will find School Cash Onilne in the new DCPS app or by going to
www.duvalschools.org, click on "Students and Families" and then "Pay Fees Online". This year, there is no administrative fee and no worries about young children losing their money.

Good Day CLE Families & Care Givers,
Hope you're having a great day!
Just a few reminders for you.
*Progress Reports will be coming out next week. Please make sure that you are checking your child's folder/planner daily. There is always information in them for upcoming events, including Picture Day next Friday!
*We need to be a good neighbor to our surrounding subdivisions around Chimney Lakes. When getting in the car line, please pull off to the side of the road. This will still allow for traffic to come through. Also, please do not block the subdivision entrances. Finally, if one of the faculty members is directing traffic, it is for the safety of students. However, we had a parent today not follow this safety guidance. This will not be allowed. Unfortunately, if I need to report your car tag to the DCPS Police, I will for the safety of the students and staff at CLE. Please help us by following the maps, previous notices, and guidance we've provided.
Open House/Book Fair Night is THIS Thursday, September 12th. Our VPK-2nd grade students will come at 4:45 (for the annual meeting) and transition to classrooms at 5 pm. Our 3rd-5th grade families will come at 6:15 (for the annual meeting) and transition to classrooms at 6:30 pm. We will start in the Multi-Purpose Room. We will have tables in the back hallway, including our wonderful PTA, with information for you. Military Families.....make sure you come by the PURPLE table to receive your special gift after completing our quick survey. Don't forget to come by the Book Fair that will be open from 5:00-7:30 pm. Can't wait to see you!
Lastly, Friday is our first Flag Raising and Cheetah Chat. Our safety patrols will present our colors and help us monitor our students at the Cheetah Chat.
As always, if you need assistance, please call the school at (904) 573-1100.
Sincerely,

Hello CLE Families & Care Givers,
Hope you're having a great week! Here are a few things happening at CLE this week:
*Ada Twist, Scientist Family Night TOMORROW! Come by tomorrow at 6 pm for a fun time with STEM activities, snacks and your own Ada Twist book!
*Monday is Labor Day. That means...No School for All! Enjoy the long weekend.
*PTA's Fundraiser launches this Friday! Look for your packet from your child's teacher on Friday.
Finally, I want to share with you an important topic that we want to educate our students on.
Your child has a right to be safe at school and learn in an environment free from sexual discrimination and harassment. These rights are rooted in Title IX, a federal civil rights law that makes sex-based discrimination and harassment illegal in schools. To assist with equipping students with this information, we have created three age-appropriate videos for each grade-level that discuss Title IX and the resources that students have to report concerns.
Over the next few weeks, schools will be reaching out to families regarding when their video presentations are taking place. We wanted to ensure you had the opportunity to view these videos in advance. There are three videos, and each one is geared toward a specific grade band: elementary, middle, high. They can be found at
www.duvalschools.org/titleix.
We encourage you to watch these videos with your children. If you would like your child to view the video in school, no further action is required. If you would like to opt your child out of watching the video in school, you can submit a Parent Opt-Out form by Thursday, September 5th. You will find this form in Focus under Forms. It is titled “Title IX Grade Level Video Viewing.”
Thank you as always for your support and partnership. If you have any questions related to Title IX, please email
TitleIX@duvalschools.org.
Sincerely,
Marianne G. Lee

Hello CLE Families & Care Givers,
We hope your week is off to a great start! We are definitely in the daily groove of things at Chimney Lakes. Just wanted to make sure you know that our weekly email is coming your way. On Mondays, you will hear from me to let you know what's happening at CLE. We encourage you to be a part of as many events as you can.
Our first event for the year is a great family literacy event, Ada Twist - Scientist! This event is sponsored by CSX Inc and in conjunction with our Military Family Life Counselors. Come out on Tuesday, August 27th @ 6:00 pm. Join our Boeing Aircraft volunteers to participate in our STEM activity that goes along with a free book, Ada Twist - Scientist. A light snack will also be provided. You can sign up by opening the photo and scan with your QR code by the camera on your phone. Do so today!
PTA Fundraiser is coming soon! Look for your flyer coming home with your little one on Friday, August 30th.
Car Rider parents....Please be aware that our car line is designed for students to exit out the back driver's side. If your student can exit that way, please do so. Students should be ready to exit when it their turn. Agendas should be already signed, lunch box in hand and ready to step out when the car stops.
Also, please remember that students need to be able to buckle themselves. Parents/Pick Up designees need to stay in the car and move forward. There are some great tools on Amazon that help little ones buckle themselves in.
Finally, we do not have an August Early Dismissal. However, mark your calendar for September 25th for our first one.
Have a super week!

Just wanted to reach out and let you all know that we are almost through that first week of school. It can be a very hard adjustment for kids and parents alike. You all have adjusted to our changes in drop off/pick up with grace. Just a few reminders...
*When coming out into traffic to Staples Mill Drive from the front drive or the car rider circle, everyone must turn right. There is a sign as you leave car riders. This is to keep the lines moving and to avoid accidents.
*Our car line starts on the left side of the gate. However, Staples Mill Drive fills up fast. Starting around 2:30 pm, you will want to come up Cheswick Road and then turn right at the first light, which will take you directly to Chimney Lakes. You'll be facing the right way and will get in the line.
Please remember to be kind to others as well as our property. Do not park on sideways as well as on the grass.
We hope you have a great Friday!

Hello all!
I hope your youngster had a great day at Chimney Lakes! Upon reflecting on the day, here are a few reminders:
*Please make sure your have set up your FOCUS account. This FOCUS account gives you the ability to be on the app with access to all of the tools that parents need.
*The front drive is for VPK students ONLY. The gate in the afternoon will be closed and entry is only available with a VPK pass. K-5 parents will need to use the regular car line. Come down Cheswick Drive to join the car line. We thank you for your patience.
*Make sure you have your car tag ready for Ms. Morales at car circle. This makes the process go faster for all.
*Parents will be able to walk their student into the building for the next 2 days. Starting Thursday, all students will need to come into the building by themselves.
Please make sure we have a correct phone number for you. There are times when emergencies occur and we need to contact you.
Finally, I've attached some photos to help you with joining the new DCPS app and accessing Oneview. PikMyKid will be removed from the app soon. It is not cooperating with the new app. We are encouraging families to access PikMyKid through the PikMyKid app. (It's a separate app)
Let's have a fabulous Tuesday!
