Can you believe that September is almost over? I don't know about you, but fall is one of my favorite times of the year. We have a lot of activities planned and hope you'll take part!
*Kindness Kar-Nival is coming back to CLE on Thursday, October 30th! Check out the flyer if you can volunteer, know of a vendor that might be interested or just to save the date. If you QR code survey doesn't work, feel free to contact Mrs. Darr for more information at smithh2@duvalschools.org.
*Homework: Please make sure you are monitoring your student's practice of homework. Homework is a practice. Like anything worthwhile, you have to practice for it to become permanent. Just like with an athletic sport, cheerleading or performance, you have to practice. Homework is a part of your child's grade, which minimal, homework counts! Check your child's daily folder/agenda planner for homework. If you have questions, please contact your child's teacher through Rooms on the DCPS app.
*Car Line: Please make sure that your child is ready to go when the car stops. Unfortunately, we cannot allow for students to only be let out at the first stop. With the volume of cars that come through in the morning, we would be out there for hours, if we did. In the afternoon, please make sure if you want to buckle your student, please pull to the gate side of the road We are limited to the time frames we can be out in the car line due to teacher contract time and teaching schedules. If you come through the gate after 8:25 am, you are subject to possibly having to go around to the office. Patrols go into the building at 8:25 am and all adults must be in by 8:31 am. Come early and we will be glad to assist.
Finally, mark the calendar for October 16th for Family tech Night. This is to help with all things technology. From Blended Learning requirements, FOCUS sign ups and learning what's in there, PikMyKid and the Duval App.
Look for our October newsletter and calendar coming this week too!
Sincerely,
Marianne G. Lee
Principal

Hope you are having a great week! Here are a few reminders for what's happening at Chimney Lakes this week!
We know that sometimes our DCPS app can be tough to manuever, but please make sure you are checking "ROOMS" accounts for your child at least a few days per week. Teachers post ALL the time and it's information you need to know. Also, make sure you sign their daily folder/agenda each day. As a parent, I always made it a point to check my child's backpack daily. (They don't always tell you when things are in there!)
*Family STEAM Night is THIS Thursday at 6 pm. We will have LOTS of activities for families to rotate through. The first 75 students will receive their own mini STEM kit. In addition, families in grades 3-5 can learn about the upcoming Science Fair! An individual science fair project is required from all 3rd-5th grade students. You will also have the chance to get Cheetah gear from our TOTs! Hope to see you there!
*BIZI Orders are due from students by Tuesday afternoon! Make sure you redeem your BIZI Bucks OR you can save them for bigger prizes. BIZI items will be delivered on Friday!
Don't forget about our CLE Fundraiser going on now for PTA!
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Marianne G. Lee
Principal

Just a few reminders for the week ahead.
*Friday, September 19th is our Fall Picture Day! Don't forget to register online at www.leonards.com/order. Remember to use the code C701964 for Chimney Lakes. Attached you will find the schedule for photos.
*Thank you to everyone who supported our Fall Book Fair! We matched what our numbers were last year! We truly appreciate your support of our school.
*Dress Code for Students. Please remember that dress code is very important. While we don't want to pull students from class, when it is a distraction to the student or others, we are required to do so. Please refer to the photo attached. Remember, shorts must be at least the length of the longest fingertip when placed straight down the side. SHOES: NO SLIDES! Anything without a back will require a phone call for replacement or no activity at PE or recess. It is unsafe to have shoes without backs.
*Don't forget our STEAM Night next Thursday, September 25th @ 6 pm! Lots of fun and activities for our school magnet. We hope to see you there!
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Marianne G. Lee

Good afternoon. I want to bring to your attention a safety and security protocol that is to be implemented immediately.
*All visitors to Chimney Lakes will be required to show ID to enter the school.
*Press the black speaker box. Someone will come on to answer you. You will need to show photo id every time. before entry.
*Front office has been directed that anyone who does not show their photo id will not be allowed into the school .
*You will be required to have a badge if leaving the front office to go into the main body of the school.
*Any time you are in the building, you will be required to wear the sticker so the faculty/staff knows that you have been cleared by the office.
This procedure will be the same at Park and Pick Up. Students will be called once the parent has announced on the PikMyKid app. All changes in dismissal must be through the PikMyKid app.
If you have trouble with the app, we are here to help you resolve those issues. However, not having the app will cause delays in getting your students to you.
Visitors to the building are asked not to keep the door open for others as each individual will need to be checked coming into the office.
Finally, please be kind to the front office workers. They are asked to do a very tough job and carry a huge weight in ensuring only viable individuals coming into our building. If they ask for clarification, they are doing so to be safe.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. You should be receiving another notification from the DCPS regarding this safety procedure as well.
Sincerely,
Marianne G. Lee
Principal

Our toilets are working at Chimney Lakes!! However, we are still under a BOWL WATER ADVISORY. We are still awaiting bottle watered from DCPS to be dropped off. You may still choose to pick up your student with no penalty.

We are experiencing issues without water pressure this morning. There has been a water main break in the area around the school. We anticipate that JEA will put us on a Boil water advisory. DCPS is sending water bottles and food to assist with the anticipated advisory. However, currently our toilets are not functioning due to low pressure. If you would like to come pick up your student(s) today, there will be no penalty for missing school today. Please contact the front office if you have any questions or concerns.

Hello Chimney Lakes Families & Care Givers:
Our Fall Book Fair is coming up soon! Mark your calendars for September 2nd-11th. In order to allow for parents to preview the texts available for purchase, please click the link below. Once you open the link, you will see the 360 degree image of the bookshelves. On the bookshelves, you will see a little red book icon. This icon will take you to the detailed selection of books on this shelf. You can do so for any of the shelves and tables offered.
We are grateful Scholastic does this for us as families can help you decide what you'd like to purchase. Remember, our Family Night is Thursday, September 11th.

We hope you are off to a great start to the week. Today was the first day that students had to walk themselves into the building and they did a great job. While they may leave you with a bit of a broken heart, the more independence you give them, the more self confident they become.
Each month, I will share with you a newsletter filled with things happening at Chimney Lakes. Please take a few minutes to read through the newsletter. It will make your experience at Chimney Lakes an easier one for all.
Don't forget to send in your PTA dues!
Sincerely,
Marianne G. Lee
Principal

It's Back to School time! i hope everyone had a smooth transition back to school. I know how much those early mornings can be tough, especially after a summer break. Here are a few reminders for the first week back to school:
*Make sure your child's teacher knows how your student is getting home each day. You can connect with them on Rooms or you can assign it in your child's calendar in PikMyKid. During the first week of school, it seems like everyone wants to be a car rider. Which is fine, just expect to have to wait in line. There are other dismissal options like the school bus, Park and Pick Up, Walkers, Day Care vans and Extended Day. If not, please make sure to follow the map for the car dismissal line. We ask for your patience as the line is long.
*After 2;15 pm, we will not be dismissing students from the front office. Children are checked out early do not get a full day of their education. There are signs posted in the front office for your attention. You will be directed to follow the dismissal procedures.
*If you need to make a change in dismissal, you will need to do so in writing or change it in the PikMyKid option in the parent OneView account.. If you call the school, you will be asked to complete this survey to put it in writing. https://forms.office.com/r/xPVswsk7ug?origin=lprLink
You will find this on our website or you will be able to call to get the survey.
During the first week of school, you will be able to walk your student into the building. Classroom doors will be closed due to teacher planning requirements. We have instructed the students how to sit in the hallway in the mornings. Please allow them to follow this procedure.
We ask for your patience as we dismissed close to 900 students in about a 30 minute (on most days). However, during the first week, it is longer. Everyone here wants your children dismissed quickly and safely Doing your part will go a long way to helping everyone.
If you have any questions, please call the front office at (904) 573-1100.
Sincerely,
Marianne G. Lee
Principal
