Good Afternoon, Mustang Families –

As we head into our final day before Spring Break, we wanted to share a few important reminders.

Lost & Found:
We will be cleaning out the Lost & Found after Spring Break. Please remind your student to check for any missing items tomorrow and take all belongings home before the break begins.

Keep the Learning Going:
We hope our students enjoy a wonderful and restful Spring Break! If they find themselves with a little extra time, they can continue building momentum in their learning by logging into Amira, Lexia, or i-Ready.

Important Letters Going Home:
Some students will be bringing home important information regarding additional academic supports designed to help them reach on-grade-level expectations in reading and math. Please check your child’s backpack for this letter tomorrow.

Dismissal Reminder:
School dismisses at 2:45 PM, and we ask that all students are picked up no later than 3:10 PM so that everyone can begin Spring Break on time.

Thank you for your continued support, and we wish all of our Mustang families a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable Spring Break!

3rd Grade Parents,

Third grade students are required to demonstrate proficiency on the FAST Reading assessment in order to be promoted to 4th grade.

If your child did not score a 2.1 or higher on PM2 or did not score above 40% on the DM3 Reading assessment, it is very important that they get as much additional practice as possible using Lexia and Amira.

To support our students, Mrs. Doyle will host a morning computer lab session Tuesday–Thursday from 7:50am–8:20 a.m. for students who would benefit from extra time on these programs. This does not replace the morning tutor groups but a supplement on the days they do not attend tutor groups.

If you would like your student to participate in this additional support time, please sign up using the QR code link attached.

These morning sessions will begin after Spring Break.

We appreciate your partnership as we work together to ensure every Mustang is prepared and confident heading into the state assessment.

Thank you for your continued support

Dear Mustang Families,

Happy March! We are excited to continue our learning journey during the week of March 2nd.
Attendance & On-Time Arrival Matter:
A strong educational foundation begins with consistent attendance and on-time arrival. Students who miss a high number of days often struggle to meet the academic demands of their grade level. Over time, this can compound, leading to students falling significantly behind in both reading and math.
When you prioritize daily attendance and punctuality, you are doing more than getting your child to school , you are building life habits of responsibility, consistency, and perseverance.
Let’s give our Mustangs the firm foundation they deserve!

Diagnostic Monitoring (DM) Updates

We will continue with Diagnostic Monitoring assessments this week:
5th Grade Science – March 5th

We are so proud of the effort many students have shown. This week, we will announce:
Students who made significant gains
Students invited to our DM3 Level Up Celebration Party

This is a wonderful time to talk with your child about the intrinsic value of always putting their best foot forward — not just for a score, but to prove to themselves that they are capable, worthy, and strong learners. Effort matters. Growth matters. They are worth it.

Why not hit the ground running this week? Consider:

Checking in with your child’s teacher about areas of growth or enrichment

Reviewing blended learning progress (Lexia, i-Ready, Amira, etc.)

Putting in focused practice time early in the week while everyone is still refreshed from the weekend

A strong Monday sets the tone for a strong week!

Read Across America Week (March 2–6, 2026)

We are celebrating literacy and a love of reading all week long!

Tuesday Evening Zoom Celebrations:

📖 Grades 3–5: Always, Clementine at 5:00 PM

📖 Grades K–2: The Spotless Giraffe at 5:30 PM

Our kindergarten students will also enjoy a fun Dr. Seuss Spirit Week in honor of Read Across America. We can’t wait to see their creativity!

Dismissal Reminder

Please help us by being on time for afternoon pick-up.
Car rider dismissal ends promptly at 3:10 PM.
We release at the same time each day so families can plan ahead.
Timely pick-up helps us ensure a smooth and safe dismissal for all students. Thank you for your cooperation and consistency.

PTA Fundraiser

Don’t forget to support our current PTA fundraiser! These funds directly support student learning experiences, celebrations, and incentives throughout the year. We are grateful for your partnership.

We are excited to continue growing, learning, and leveling up together this week. Thank you for being such an important part of your child’s success.

Let’s make it a strong week, Mustangs! 💙

With appreciation,

Families, we need your support.
As we continue working together to create a positive and productive school environment, we kindly ask all parents and guardians to be mindful of the following when visiting campus or attending school meetings:

Please use appropriate language when speaking with staff or participating in school events.
Dress in a manner that is respectful of the school setting, as we model expectations for our students.
Approach conversations with the understanding that we are partners in your child’s success. Our team is here to support, guide, and encourage—not to replace the important role you play at home.

We truly value our families and the teamwork it takes to help every child grow. Thank you for supporting a school environment where students, staff, and families feel respected and vaulued!

The 4th grade math District assessment is Monday March 2nd not tomorrow! Reading is Tuesday 2/24.
18 days ago, Casie Doyle

Dear Mustang Families,

This week our fourth-grade Mustangs will take their district Diagnostic Monitoring (DM) assessments in Math TOMORROW (Monday 3/2) and Reading (Tuesday 2/24).

These assessments are important. They provide powerful information that helps us design intentional, targeted support plans as we head into Florida state testing in April and May.

When reviewing our most recent data from December, we noticed that some students who began the year reading on grade level showed a drop in performance mid-year. This tells us two important things: we must continue strengthening daily reading habits, and we must ensure students are consistently applying the strategies they have learned. We need your partnership in supporting strong habits at home — monitoring blended learning progress, practicing math facts regularly, and encouraging nightly reading. The more students read, the more their vocabulary, comprehension, and content knowledge grow — which directly impacts achievement across all subjects.

This Diagnostic Monitoring assessment is the final full diagnostic we will receive before state testing. We need students to truly show what they know so our support can be precise, strategic, and personalized.

At Chaffee Trail, we do not shy away from challenges — we Level Up.

We are reminding students to approach these assessments with focus, determination, and Mustang confidence. When the work feels tough, that is their signal to lean into the strategies they have practiced all year:

• Use scratch paper for reading and math
• Annotate passages and questions
• Read passages more than once and make sure they understand what is truly being asked
• Go back into the text to find evidence instead of guessing
• Show all work in math — simple computation mistakes can happen when we try to do everything in our heads

Effort matters. Perseverance matters. Finishing strong matters.

Sometimes students rush or lose confidence when work becomes challenging. When they know it matters to you, it matters to them. Your encouragement at home carries incredible power.

You can help by ensuring they:

• Get a good night’s sleep
• Eat a healthy breakfast
• Receive a strong pep talk the night before and the morning of testing
• Are reminded that their effort today builds their future tomorrow

We will use these results to continue targeted small-group instruction and ensure every Mustang is supported, challenged, and growing.

And don’t forget — students who make the required gains from last year’s FAST May score will earn the opportunity to attend our Level Up Celebration. We hope this incentive provides an extra boost of resilience and motivation as they tackle these assessments.

Thank you for partnering with us as we continue Buzzing with Purpose and Blooming with Pride all the way through testing season.

Once a Mustang, always a Mustang.

With pride,
Principal Doyle

Level up 4

Dear Mustang Families,

This week our fifth-grade Mustangs will take their district Diagnostic Monitoring (DM) assessments in Reading (Monday 2/23), Math (Wednesday 2/25), and Science (Thursday 3/5).

These assessments are important. They give us powerful information so we can design intentional, targeted support plans as we head into Florida state testing in April and May.

Fifth grade is a pivotal year. Spring FAST scores help determine middle school course placement. Results may open doors to advanced and enrichment pathways, or identify areas where additional support is needed. Those middle school placements influence high school coursework, which can ultimately impact college and career opportunities.

This DM is the final full diagnostic we will receive before state testing. We need students to truly show what they know so our support can be precise, strategic, and personalized.

At Chaffee Trail, we do not shy away from challenge — we Level Up.

We are reminding students to approach these assessments with focus, determination, and Mustang confidence. When the work feels tough, that is their signal to lean into the strategies they’ve practiced all year:

• Use scratch paper for reading and math
• Annotate passages and questions
• Read passages more than once - make sure they know what is actually being asked
• Go back into the text to find evidence instead of guessing
• Show all work in math (simple mistakes when doing math in our head can be the difference in success)

Effort matters. Perseverance matters. Finishing strong matters.

Sometimes students rush. Sometimes they get discouraged. But when they know it matters to you, it matters to them. Your words at home carry incredible power.

You can help by ensuring they:

• Get a good night’s sleep
• Eat a healthy breakfast
• Hear a strong pep talk the night before and the morning of testing
• Are reminded that their effort today builds their future tomorrow

We will use these results to continue targeted small-group instruction and ensure every Mustang is supported, challenged, and growing.

And don’t forget — students who make the required gains from last year’s FAST May score will earn the opportunity to attend our Level Up Celebration. We hope that incentive gives them an extra boost of resilience and motivation as they tackle these assessments.

DM3
Dear Parents,

Next week our third graders will take their district Diagnostic Monitoring (DM) assessments in Reading (Tuesday) and Math (Thursday). This practice assessment is important because it gives us valuable information to design a strong plan of support for the remaining weeks of school as we prepare for the Florida state assessment in April.

As you know, third grade students must demonstrate proficiency in reading to be promoted to fourth grade. This DM will be the last full diagnostic we receive before state testing in April. We want students to truly show what they know so that our supports can be prescriptive and targeted based on their individual needs.

We are encouraging students to approach this assessment with focus, determination, and confidence. When the work feels challenging, they know to take a quick brain break and then get right back to applying the strategies we’ve practiced all year:

Use scratch paper for both reading and math

Annotate passages and questions

Read passages more than once

Go back into the text to find evidence instead of guessing

Show their work in math

We know that sometimes students rush or give up when things get difficult. Your encouragement makes a powerful difference. When students know this matters to you, it matters to them.

You can help by ensuring they:

Get a good night’s sleep

Eat a healthy breakfast

Receive a positive pep talk the night before and the morning of testing

We will use the results from this assessment to continue targeted small group instruction and provide the support each child needs to grow.

Also, please remind students about the Level Up celebration they can attend if they make the needed gains or reach proficiency. We hope the excitement of this incentive gives them an extra boost of resilience as they tackle these assessments.

Thank you for partnering with us to help your child do their very best!
