Throughout January, February, and March, we will read three selected books together as a group. Students are also welcome and encouraged to read additional books independently, which they will have the opportunity to share at our final Book Club event in March.
Families are encouraged to read together at home—taking turns reading aloud and listening—to support comprehension, discussion, and a shared love of reading.

We will meet twice a month to discuss our reading, share ideas, and build a community of readers.

This book club is designed to encourage thoughtful reading, meaningful conversations, and joyful reading experiences—both as a group and as a family. We hope you will join us!

We are excited to welcome our students back to campus tomorrow! Our doors will open at 7:50 a.m. for arrival. Please review the important reminders below as we begin a new semester of learning on the Trail.
Tomorrow marks the start of the 3rd nine weeks. Second nine weeks report cards will be published next Wednesday.
Timely arrival and departure are essential to student success. When students arrive late or are checked out early, they miss valuable intervention time and instructional supports that occur throughout the day. We appreciate your partnership in ensuring your child is present for the full instructional day
As a reminder, all students who are not enrolled in Extended Day must be picked up on time, no later than 3:15 p.m. After 3:10 p.m., families will need to park and come to the front desk with a valid ID to sign out their student. We understand that some families have multiple students to pick up; however, this does not exempt students from on-time pickup expectations.
Our Lost and Found fills up quickly during the winter months. Please take a moment to label your child’s belongings with their first and last name so items can be easily identified and returned.
Finally, please be sure to have your car tags ready for dismissal beginning at 2:45 p.m.
Have a wonderful evening, and we look forward to seeing our Mustangs back bright and early tomorrow as we kick off the second semester of learning on the Trail!
💙🐝 Buzzing with Purpose, Blooming with Pride 🐝💙
We are excited to welcome all of our Mustangs back to school on Wednesday, January 7th!
Please note the following dates:
Monday, January 5th – End of 2nd Nine Weeks Planning Day (no school for students)
Tuesday, January 6th – Employee Inservice Day (no school for students)
We are also excited to celebrate our students’ mid-year growth, as measured by the December FAST assessments. More information will be sent home later this week regarding data discussions and student goal setting.
In the meantime, please remind your students that if they are feeling bored over the break, they can always log in to their blended learning platforms to work toward their weekly goals.
As a reminder, we have cleaned out the Lost and Found. Moving forward, please be sure that any item your student brings to school is clearly labeled with their first and last name. This helps us quickly return items to the correct student.
We hope you have had a wonderful winter break. Enjoy the remainder of your time together, and we look forward to seeing all students back on Wednesday, January 7th.

As we approach the holiday season, I want to take a moment to share an important concern we’ve observed among some of our students. Recently, we have seen an increase in students engaging in inappropriate conversations through group text chats and sharing videos containing adult content. In addition, several parents have contacted us after monitoring their children’s devices and discovering conversations involving explicit language, discussions around mature content, and even references to self-harm.
These topics are not age‑appropriate and can have a harmful impact on students’ emotional and social well‑being. With the upcoming break, students will have more unstructured time, which often leads to increased screen time, gaming, and social media use. While technology can be a wonderful tool for learning and connection, it also presents risks when it is not closely monitored.
We encourage you to take time over the break to:
Review the apps installed on your child’s device and understand their purpose. Some apps appear harmless at first glance but function very differently once opened.
Be aware of how certain apps and games may expose your child’s information or interactions to the wider internet.
Monitor text conversations, group chats, and social media activity to ensure they remain appropriate and safe.
Talk with your child about online safety, responsible communication, and what to do if they encounter something concerning.
Please also be aware that even tools designed to be helpful—such as AI chat features or interactive gaming platforms—can be misused by others in harmful ways. Recently, news reports highlighted an attempted kidnapping in Nassau County connected to an encounter on Roblox. Staying informed and engaged is one of the most effective ways to protect your child.
In January, we will host a Parent Night focused on online safety, monitoring strategies, and ways to support healthy digital habits. We hope this session will provide practical tools and guidance as we work together to keep our students safe.
Thank you for partnering with us to support the well‑being of our students. If you have any questions or need additional resources, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Mrs. Doyle

Tomorrow, 12/17/25, we will have our faculty meeting after school. This means car line will end at 3:10 PM.
If you arrive after 3:10, please park and bring your car tag inside to pick up your child.
Thank you for your cooperation!

✅ Spirit Week Begins Tomorrow!
Tomorrow starts our schoolwide Spirit Week. Please refer to the attached spirit calendar that was previously posted.
🧪 5th Grade Mid-Year Science State Assessment – Tomorrow
Tomorrow our 5th graders will take their Mid-Year Science State Assessment. Please help your child do their very best by:
Powering down electronics early
Getting a good night’s sleep
Sending them in with a little encouragement and a pep talk—when students know it matters to you, they try even harder!
📌 SAC Meeting – Thursday at 3:30 PM
Our School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting will be held this Thursday at 3:30 PM.
⏰ Arrive On Time
We can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow morning! As a reminder, school begins at 8:30 AM. Students arriving after 8:30 are tardy.
We want to send a huge thank you out to our PTA for hosting our Whoville, all those employees who helped prepare and assist with activities at the event, and Mr. Carter for the amazing student holiday performance.
Have a great evening, and we’ll see our Mustangs bright and early tomorrow! 💙💛

I want to let you know about a medical situation that occurred today involving one of our students during last lunch. The student received immediate care and was transported for further evaluation. They were alert and responsive before leaving school.
We understand that events like this can be unsettling. Our counselors are available to support any student who may feel anxious or would like to talk.
Thank you for your continued support as we prioritize the health and well-being of all our students.
Sincerely,
Principal Doyle
A big thank you to all who attended to represent their schools and DCPS, as well as to the parents who came ready with thoughtful questions—from the application process, to lottery timelines, to transportation options. Your engagement and curiosity show just how committed you are to helping your students find the best possible fit.
You don’t have to look far to see that DCPS truly offers every pathway you can imagine when preparing for your child’s future.
The School Choice application window is still open, and we are here to help! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call the school—we’re happy to support you through the process.
