CELEBRATING SCHOOL COUNSELORS — Team Duval is proud to recognize National School Counseling Week and the incredible impact our more than 240 school counselors make every single day. They advocate for students, help them navigate their academic journeys, and guide them toward their goals. Our success as an A-rated district with a 97.6% graduation rate would not be possible without these dedicated professionals. As part of this special week, dozens of counselors gathered at the Schultz Center for their annual conference, focused on building student “superpowers” like grit and resilience – perfectly aligned with the national theme of helping students thrive and preparing them for college, career, and life. Their commitment to growing their own “superpowers” directly fuels student success across Team Duval. Join us in thanking our outstanding school counselors for the lasting difference they make in our schools and community!

Dear Families,

Tomorrow, we begin a new week of continued learning and growing together!

Community-Wide Lessons
This past Friday, students participated in our community-wide lessons focused on building classroom connections. Ask your student which book their class read together and what they learned about community and belonging.

American Heart Association – Kids Heart Challenge
We are getting closer each day to reaching our schoolwide goal and helping Coach Hayes achieve an important milestone in his career. Currently, over 900 students are enrolled here at CTES, with 100 students actively participating in the school wide healthy heart challenge. Imagine the impact if our entire school comm unity joined in!

This effort is about more than fundraising — it’s about modeling compassion, teamwork, and service. Even if you are unable to donate, families can still log in so students can watch the Hands-Only CPR video, a life-saving skill they may use one day. We are growing not only young minds, but caring hearts as well.

Mid-Year Student Data & Support
Mid-year data has been sent home showing your child’s current academic progress. We have also offered data chats for any parent who would like more information on how to support their child’s success. If your child is not currently reading on grade level, we strongly encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher or our administrative team and take advantage of the support. Together, we can identify ways to close learning gaps and move your child toward grade-level proficiency while there is still time in the year to make a significant impact. Please help ensure your child gets the support they deserve for a bright future.

National School Counselor Week
This week is National School Counselor Week, and we will be celebrating the many hats our school counselor, Mr. Nelson, wears each day to support our students. Join us in showing appreciation throughout the week!
📌 Thursday: Students are welcome to wear a hat to school in his honor.

Literacy Updates

  • Grades 3–5: Always, Clementine will wrap up the final 10 chapters this week, with a final book talk coming next week. More details soon!

  • Grades K–2: Students are currently enjoying Penny Lu Porcupine.

Cold Weather & Morning Drop-Off
We are preparing for another chilly week. Please ensure students are dressed appropriately for the weather. Due to low temperatures, patrols will not be assisting with car doors. Students do not need to wait for doors to be opened — allowing them to exit promptly helps keep traffic moving and keeps everyone safe and warm.

Attendance & Punctuality Matter
On-time arrival and daily attendance are critical to student success. When students arrive late or leave early, they miss valuable small-group instruction and interventions. Just as importantly, punctuality teaches responsibility and life skills.

  • Doors open daily at 7:50 a.m.

  • Dismissal is at 3:10 p.m.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Have a great evening, and we look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

replacment
Good evening families! Due to the freezing temperatures expected tomorrow, please be sure your child(ren) are dressed warm. Write names in coats incase they are misplaced. For everyone's safety, we will not have morning patrols outside, so families will need to allow students to exit the vehicle on their own at drop-off.

School staff will be monitoring and assisting students as they enter the building.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Stay warm! ❄️
