Miles had an amazing journey across California, Nevada, Arizona, and Texas with the Vargas family!
The adventure began with a flight from Jacksonville, Florida to Dallas, Texas, before continuing all the way to Monterey, California. California's Central Coast is known as the "Salad Bowl of America" because so many fruits and vegetables are grown there! Miles saw fields filled with lettuce, strawberries, broccoli, grapes, and many other crops. He also visited the famous beach town of Santa Cruz, where he rode exciting roller coasters on the historic boardwalk right next to the beautiful Pacific Ocean.
Next, Miles traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada, a city known for its bright lights and entertainment. From there, he headed to Arizona to visit one of the most amazing natural wonders in the world—the Grand Canyon! The Grand Canyon was carved by the Colorado River over millions of years and stretches an incredible 277 miles long. It's more than a mile deep in some places! While exploring, Miles even spotted rock formations that looked like a dog and an eagle.
The adventure continued in Seligman, Arizona, a small town that helped inspire Radiator Springs from Disney's Cars! Miles loved seeing the classic Route 66 charm and colorful scenery.
Before heading home, Miles visited the famous Hoover Dam, located right on the border of Arizona and Nevada. This massive dam helps provide water and electricity to millions of people. From the top, Miles enjoyed breathtaking views of the Colorado River and Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the United States.

1. Mave at The Castillo de San Marcos (Spanish for “St. Mark’s Castle”) is located on the western shore of Matanzas Bay in St. Augustine, Florida. The city's crown jewel is a massive 17th-century Spanish stone fortress, the oldest masonry fort in the continental United States.
2. Mave at the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park. Miles hiked through Zion, marveled at the colorful hoodoos of Bryce Canyon, explored Capitol Reef, enjoyed the breathtaking views of Canyonlands, and stood beneath the incredible arches at Arches National Park.
The best part? Miles completed the Junior Ranger Program at all five parks and earned five Junior Ranger badges! 🎖️🎖️🎖️🎖️🎖️
After Utah, Miles continued on to Colorado, where he enjoyed stunning mountain views and even more outdoor adventures.

Miles has been busy exploring some incredible places across the eastern United States and learning about the people, places, and events that helped shape our nation!
🐴 Pennsylvania – Miles visited beautiful Lancaster County, home to one of the largest Amish communities in America. He enjoyed a traditional buggy ride and learned about Amish farming, family life, and strong community values. In Philadelphia, he visited the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Congressional Hall, Benjamin Franklin's burial site, and even met the famous Phillie Phanatic! Fun Fact: Pennsylvania is known as the "Keystone State" because of its important role in the founding of the United States.
🧙 Massachusetts – In Salem, Miles learned about the famous Salem Witch Trials of 1692 and explored historic landmarks connected to this important chapter of American history. Fun Fact: Massachusetts is home to Plymouth, where the Pilgrims established one of America's earliest colonies in 1620!
🏛️ Washington, D.C. – Miles visited our nation's capital, where the President lives in the White House and Congress meets to make laws for the country. Fun Fact: Washington, D.C. is not a state—it's a special federal district created to serve as the nation's capital!
⚓ Maryland – At Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Miles stood where Francis Scott Key was inspired to write "The Star-Spangled Banner" after witnessing the American flag still flying during the War of 1812. Fun Fact: Maryland's state sport is jousting, making it one of the most unique state sports in America!

He learned about the Powhatan Tribe, Pocahontas, and the ongoing archaeological excavations at James Fort. ❄️ Mustangs Across America: Alaska Adventure! ❄️🐻
Miles made a very special stop in Alaska, America's largest state—and guess who he met? 🎅 Santa Claus himself. Who knew....he has a vacation home there! Alaska is so big that Texas could fit inside it more than twice! It's home to Denali, the tallest mountain in North America, more than 3 million lakes, thousands of glaciers, and amazing animals like bears, moose, caribou, and bald eagles.
Did you know that in some parts of Alaska the sun stays out almost all day during the summer? ☀️ That's one reason Alaska is such an exciting place to visit! Miles had a blast exploring the Last Frontier, learning about its incredible wildlife, and sharing a photo with Santa. Thanks to our very own Camden W for taking Miles along on the adventure to alaska our 49th state.

As we approach the last week of school, we want to thank you for your partnership and support throughout the year. This is an exciting time for students, but it can also bring heightened emotions and energy. Recently, we have experienced an increase in student conflicts, including disagreements, threats, and physical altercations.
The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. We are asking for your support in reinforcing the importance of respectful behavior, positive decision-making, and appropriate conflict resolution at school and online. We take ALL threats of violence seriously and will always follow the code of conduct.
Please take a few moments to speak with your child about:
Treating others with kindness and respect
Reporting concerns or threats to a trusted adult immediately
Avoiding social media posts or messages that may escalate conflicts
Understanding that threats, fighting, or unsafe behavior will result in school consequences and possible involvement of law enforcement
Our staff will continue to closely supervise students and proactively address concerns to help ensure a safe and positive end to the school year. We encourage families to partner with us by monitoring conversations and social media activity and reminding students that everyone deserves to feel safe at school.
If your child shares information about a potential conflict or safety concern, please contact the school office immediately so we can respond promptly.
