THE 2ND ANNUAL CTE CAREER ACADEMY SHOWCASE – You're invited to this free community event where Duval’s educators and students shine! Highlighting all 67 of the district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Academies and programs, this event offers students and teachers a platform to share their innovative work with families and the broader community. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with academy staff and students, explore the unique programs offered across the district, and receive expert guidance from CTE staff on navigating the application process. No advanced registration is required. This event takes place Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Adam W. Herbert University Center at the University of North Florida. An important change to our daily schedule will begin on Wednesday, October 15, the first day of the second quarter.
Starting October 15, student dismissal will move to 2:55 PM — 15 minutes earlier than our current time. This adjustment is being made to provide our teachers with consistent daily planning time, which is essential for maintaining strong, high-quality instruction for every student.
To accommodate this change, each class period will be slightly shortened. Even with this shift, we are fully committed to upholding high expectations for teaching and learning. Every instructional minute will continue to be used purposefully and effectively.
We understand that schedule changes can impact family routines. To support this transition, we will provide additional adult supervision for 30 minutes after dismissal, ensuring students have a safe and supervised environment if families need a bit more time to adjust. Current transportation will largely remain the same.
We appreciate your partnership as we make this change in support of our educators and students.
