Good Morning MAJ Families,
Bus #256 will run its route, then pick up Bus #108 students. This will continue until further notice. Alternate options: car rider line (2:50–3:10 PM, note in PikMyKid) or extended day (pickup till 6 PM, enroll via DCPS website). Thank you for your flexibility during this time!
First, a huge thank you to all who sent in #2 plastics! The NEHS collected, counted and sorted 500 bags, 4830 caps, and 1080 containers for a grand total of 6410 pieces of plastic, exceeding their goal of 2000 pieces!! The buddy benches are being ordered and we will post updates when they are ready for installation.
We are heading into April and the last 2 months of the school year! 3rd quarter student report cards will be published and available in your parent account tomorrow, March 31st.
We are also heading into end of the year state testing. Information about your child’s assessment dates is being shared through Classrooms. Our 4th and 5th grade students will be completing their state writing assessment this Wednesday, April 2nd.
This Friday, April 4th, our Drama club will be presenting their production of Alice in Wonderland. The doors will open at 6:00 pm with the show starting at 6:30. There is no cost, but donations will be accepted at the door. Your donations are greatly appreciated and help to keep this program going!
Our final School Advisory Council meeting for this school year will be on April 14th at 4:45 PM in the media center. SAC meetings are open to anyone who would like to attend and are a great way to learn more about what is happening in our school, as well as to share your ideas and feedback.

Report Cards for the 3rd Marking Period will be posted in your parent account next week Monday (3/31).
This Wednesday (3/26) will be an Early Dismissal Day and students will be dismissed at 1:15.
This week Tuesday (3/25) is last day to bring in #2 plastic items for the class competition! We currently have 1035 pieces collected toward our goal of 2000 pieces!

Just a reminder, this week is Spring Break and there is no school. Monday, March 24th is a teacher planning day, and students will return to school on Tuesday, March 25th. Also, Wednesday, March 26th is an Early Dismissal Day.
Keep collecting those #2 plastic items! Our current schoolwide count is 1035 toward our goal of 2000 pieces to get two “Buddy Benches” for our school! The last day to bring in items for the class competition is March 25th. There is currently a close race in grades 3 – 5 with Ms. Patton’s homeroom in 1st, Ms. Coumbe’s homeroom in second and Ms. Raymer’s Homeroom in 3rd. In the PK – 2 race, Ms. Macedo’s class is in 1st, Ms. McCauley’s class is in 2nd and Ms. Sharp’s class is in 3rd.

Our National Elementary Honor Society has organized #2 plastic collection is underway. We currently have 441 pieces collected toward our goal. We are working to collect 2000 pieces that will be used to help us to get two “Buddy Benches” for our school! Keep sending in those #2 plastics!!
Our School Advisory Council Meeting will be held Monday, March 10th at 4:45 PM in the Media Center. This will be followed by our Title I Parent and Family Engagement Plan Developmental Meeting and are looking for your input on programs and support for the 2025-2026 school year. These meetings are open to all and we genuinely welcome your input!
Spring pictures day is this Tuesday (3/11) for individuals who pre-purchase them. Class and groups pictures will also be taken at this time.
Our school field day (Olympic day) is this Thursday. Students should wear appropriate clothing and shoes to play outdoors!

The driver for bus 108 will be out at least through next week. To provide better service to all students, busses 256 and 169 will be splitting route 108, adding one stop to each route. These busses have been picking the students up in the mornings for the past several days.
Bus 256 left to take the students on bus 108. She will return for the students on bus 256. If you are planning to pick up your student that is fine, but when the bus arrives all students will be loaded onto the bus.
Bus 256 is currently running route 108 and should be back shortly to get the route 256 students.

We are down to the last two weeks of the 3rd quarter. Please be sure to be looking at and talking with your child about their grades. The quarter ends on March 14th and teachers will be posting final grades for the quarter.
We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday this week with fun dress-up days. Monday - wear a hat or red and white stripes; Tuesday – wear a college shirt or colors or a MAJ shirt; Wednesday – wear clothes inside out, backward or mismatched; Thursday, wear green; Friday – wear crazy socks.

As of right now there are not any drivers for buses 108 and 256, please make arrangements for your child to be picked up from the school. The bus company does not know if or when there will be coverage.

As of this time, the bus company is still looking for coverage for bus routes 108 and 256.
We have just received a notification from the bus company letting us know they are working to get drivers for routes 108 and 256 this afternoon. We will update you when/if we receive any updates regarding this.
We have received word the bus carrying route 108 is having mechanical issues and is on the side of the road. Another bus is enroute. 256 students are still at the school and are waiting for that bus to return to pick them up.
Route 108 does not have a driver for this afternoon. The driver for 256 will be running both routes. She will run the first route and return to pick up the other route. We will update PikMyKid as the busses are loaded.

This Thursday, February 27th is our Title I Family STEM Night on Thursday. Please plan to arrive shortly before 6:00 PM. There are several great activities, and you won’t want to miss any of them!!

Good afternoon parents of students that ride bus 108, they will be late this afternoon, they will be transported home by bus 256 this afternoon. Bus 256 will run their normal route then come back to the school to pick up the students from bus 108 to drop them off. If you have any questions please call the school at 904-266-1214.
