Good afternoon MAJ families,
I am reaching out to make you aware of an update to our procedures for coming into the building. There have been some district-wide safety policy updates for DCPS schools. From this point forward, when you ring the bell at the main entrance, you will be asked to have your ID and show it at the camera prior to entering the building without exception. You will not be permitted to enter the building if you do not have an ID. We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain the safety of all our students.

Greetings MAJ Families!
Our first week of school went extremely well and we are so excited to have our students back in the building! During this first week, we reviewed rituals and routines, had our code of conduct assemblies, and even had our first fire drill!
We appreciate your patience and understanding with dismissal and the district-wide issues with Pikmykid. These issues have been resolved, and the program began working properly at the end of last week. As a reminder, any changes in dismissal must be made by the parent or guardian through the Pikmykid app.
There are two wonderful opportunities this week for you to get involved with our school!
First, we are starting up a new chapter of All Pro Dads! Our Launch Party will take place this Tuesday morning (8/19) at 7:45 AM. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early and bring your ID to get signed in! Information and flyers went home this week, and we do ask that you please RSVP at https://allprodadchapters.com/chapters/15534 so we know how many to plan for!
Secondly, our PTO will have their first general meeting this Thursday morning (8/21) at 8:30 AM. PTO membership is only $6.00. We would love to have you come and learn more about all the amazing things our PTO does to support our school! Opportunities range from volunteering for various events and activities, to helping plan for fundraisers and teacher appreciation week. If you would like more information or have any questions, please email PTOofMAJ@outlook.com. You will need your ID to get a visitor’s pass to attend the meeting.
Looking forward, our patrols will be sponsoring the “Back to School Bash” on Friday, August 29th after school. Flyers with information on purchasing tickets went home on Friday.
Please mark your calendars and make plans to attend our Open House which will take place on Thursday, September 11th beginning at 6:00PM. We will hold our Title I Annual Meeting at 5:30PM the same night. Attendees for the Title I meeting will get early entry to Open House!

Greetings MAJ Families!
I hope everyone had a fabulous summer break. It was wonderful seeing so many of you at Meet the Teacher this past Friday afternoon! For those who were unable to attend, your child will be bringing home a packet that includes lots of information and several forms for you to complete and return. Please do not hesitate to reach out should you have any questions, or if you need assistance!
Our school hours are from 8:30 – 3:00 daily. Doors open to allow students in at 8:00AM. Please do not drop your child(ren) off earlier this, unless they are enrolled in morning extended day as there is no supervision available.
Parents will be allowed to walk children to their classrooms on the first day of school until 8:25AM. This allows the teachers to focus their attention on their class as they begin to build their daily rituals and routines. All our amazing teachers can be contacted through Rooms in your DCPS Parent Account. Please reach out to your teacher(s) to schedule a conference to discuss any specific questions or concerns you may have.
Attendance is extremely important. Our classrooms have a full day of learning every day. Students who are absent, arrive late, or are checked out early, miss valuable instruction time. As a reminder, per DCPS policy, there are no early check-outs allowed 45 minutes prior to dismissal, which is 2:15.
We use Pikmykid as our tool for daily dismissal. Please ensure you have set up your child’s method of dismissal (car rider, walker, extended day, bus rider – including bus number…) set in your Pikmykid Parent Application. Any changes in dismissal must be completed through the Pikmykid app.
Looking forward, our patrols will be sponsoring the “Back to School Bash” on Friday, August 29th after school. Information will be coming home with details on how to purchase tickets.
Please mark your calendars and make plans to attend our Open House which will take place on Thursday, September 11th beginning at 6:00PM . We will hold our Title I Annual Meeting at 5:30 the same night. Attendees for the meeting get early entry!!
Thank you for partnering with us in your child’s education. We are so excited to see everyone tomorrow morning as we Blast Off to Reach New Goals!!!
