Good afternoon, Sabal Palm Families.

We are having a great day of learning, but I wanted to make you aware of two minor disruptions to our schedule today.

Earlier today, a student inadvertently activated our lockdown alarm. Our team responded immediately and followed all safety procedures. I am incredibly proud of our students and staff for remaining calm, orderly, and responsive throughout the situation. Once we confirmed there was no threat and it was safe to do so, the lockdown was lifted and students returned to their regular schedules.

Additionally, several classrooms in our CSS Department have experienced intermittent air conditioning today, resulting in warmer-than-usual classroom temperatures. We have been using fans and taking additional measures to keep students as cool and comfortable as possible. District Maintenance has been notified and is actively working to address the issue with the air conditioning unit.

🦩 Flamingo Families: Important Arrival, Dismissal & School Updates for Tomorrow

As we continue settling into the new school year, please remember that tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12, we will begin our regular arrival procedures.

Beginning tomorrow, parents/guardians will no longer walk students to their classrooms. Our staff will be ready throughout campus to welcome students and help them safely make their way to class.

Families who would like a few extra moments for hugs and kisses are welcome to park in Flamingo Forest and walk students to our side gate. This is a great way to help ease the transition while encouraging your child’s confidence and independence. 💗

🚗 Dismissal Reminders
Dismissal is now fully managed through PikMyKid (PMK). Please make sure your student’s dismissal information is accurate and updated in PMK, especially if your child will be going home differently than usual.

Our Car Loop gate will close promptly at 3:15 PM. Please arrive with enough time to enter the loop before the gate closes.

🚌 Bus Transportation
Any family needing bus transportation—including ESE bus services—must register for transportation through Focus. Please remember that the approval and routing process may take up to 10 days, so families needing transportation should complete registration as soon as possible.

Join us tomorrow for supply drop off and meet your child’s teacher, see the classroom, and help your child feel ready and excited for the first day of school.

We are especially excited to welcome our new Sabal Palm PTA Board, who will be on-site recruiting members and sharing some goodies! Our PTA plays an important role in strengthening our school community by supporting students, celebrating staff, planning and enhancing family events, and helping bring special opportunities and experiences to Sabal Palm. Becoming a member is a simple way to show your support—there is no obligation to volunteer or attend every meeting. Every membership helps our PTA do more for our Flamingos!

Please remember that Orientation is designed to be a brief “meet-and-greet.” We invite families to return for Open House in September, when you will have more time to learn about classroom expectations, instruction, communication, and how our school operates throughout the year.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL - The countdown is on — just ONE month until the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 10. Take small steps now to get ready: Adjust sleep schedules a little each week, gather school supplies and organize backpacks, keep learning going with 20 minutes of reading or math each day, mark important school dates on your family calendar, and start practicing morning routines. Hello Sabal Palm Elementary School Families,

Want to skip back-to-school shopping this summer while saving up to 20% compared to most major retailers? You can order a school supply kit for a limited time with all the supplies your student will need for their upcoming school year.
