Hello, Mamie Agnes Jones Families, We have a busy week of learning ahead of us. First Quarter Report Cards will be posted to your parent account this Wednesday. As a reminder, you can access your child’s gradebook at any time through your parent account. Our Title I Family Math Night is taking place this Thursday, October 24th, beginning at 6:30 PM. Entry will be through the doors to the cafeteria on the East side of the building. This is a fun and informative event for the whole family to attend! This Friday is the Patrol-sponsored Fall Dance. Flyers went home last week and the last day to purchase tickets for the dance will be on Wednesday. Next week is Red Ribbon Week where we focus on being healthy and drug free. A flyer with the different dress-up days and activities will be going home this week. Students may “dress up against drugs” in their costumes on Thursday; however, no masks or props should be brought to school and may not be worn or carried throughout the day. We will not be having a “parade” on Thursday but will instead have a vocabulary parade in January as a part of our Literacy Week celebrations. Hello, Mamie Agnes Jones Families, We hope everyone fared well through the storm. Tomorrow, Monday, October 14th, is a teacher planning day and there will be no school for students. Our Title I Data and Donuts for parents/guardians of our students in grades 2, 3 and 5 has been rescheduled for this week! Each session will begin at 8:45 AM. Third grade will be on Tuesday, October 15th, fifth grade will be on Wednesday, October 16th, and second grade will be on Thursday, October 18th. Our PE Health and Safety Family Night was rescheduled and will take place this Tuesday, October 15th. Activities will begin at 6:00 PM and we look forward to seeing many of you there! The date for the end of the first quarter has been adjusted due to the missed weather days. First quarter report cards will now be posted in your parent account on Monday, October 23rd. Looking forward, mark your calendars and make plans to attend our upcoming Title I Family Math Night on Thursday, October 24th! Please be on the lookout for updates on any changes due to the pending weather. This week, we will have our Title I Data and Donuts for parents/guardians of our students in grades 2 - 5! Your child will be sharing their current data and their goals with you, and we will be sharing information on how you can support your child in achieving their goals. We will also provide support in navigating your parent account for anyone who needs assistance with this! Each session will begin at 8:45 AM. Fourth grade will be on Monday, October 7th, fifth grade will be on Wednesday, October 9th, second grade will be on Thursday, October 10th and third grade will be on Friday, October 11th. Our October School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting will take place on Monday, October 7th at 4:45 PM. SAC Meetings are open to anyone who would like to attend to learn more about our school and provide input to assist us in continued improvement. Due to the weather forecast, the PE Health and Safety Family Night scheduled for Tuesday, October 8th will be moved to next week and will take place on Tuesday, October 15th. Activities will begin at 6:00 PM and we look forward to seeing many of you there! Weather permitting, Baldwin Highschool will have their homecoming parade this Friday, the 11th. Our patrols will be participating in the parade and the students will be able to watch the parade as it passes in front of our school! The road to the school will be blocked between approximately 12:45 and 2:15. As a reminder, the cut-off for early check out is 2:15. This week also marks the end of our first quarter at school and first quarter report cards will be posted in your parent account on Monday, October 21st. Looking ahead, next week Monday, October 14th, is a teacher planning day and there will be no school for students. We are back to school tomorrow and have a busy week planned as we celebrate “Jacksonville goes to College Week.” We will begin with “Hats off to education” on Monday. Students may wear a hat in school! Wednesday is “College roommate day” and students can find a friend, or group of friends, and dress alike! On Thursday, students may dress for their future career/job, and Friday is “Signing Day,” and students may wear a college t-shirt or their favorite college colors! Hello, Mamie Agnes Jones Families, I hope you have all enjoyed this beautiful weekend! As we begin our last full week of September, our students will have the opportunity to participate in our student council elections tomorrow. Everyone is invited to wear red, white and blue to show your school spirit for election day!! This Wednesday, September 25th will be our first Early Dismissal and students will be dismissed at 1:15 PM. This Friday, September 27th, is our patrol sponsored “Sock Hop.” Permission slips with all the details were sent home with students this past week and tickets are on sale through Wednesday, and no tickets may be purchased after that time. Students should turn their money and permission slips into their teachers by Wednesday morning. Next week we will be holding our Title I “Data and Donuts” event for parents or guardians of students in grades 2 – 5. Hello, Mamie Agnes Jones Families, We are looking forward to another busy week of learning. Most students have completed their state assessments. Please be on the lookout for score reports your child should be bringing home to share with you. More information on state testing is available on the Florida Department of Education website at https://flfast.org/families.html. Our PTO will hold their first general meeting on Tuesday, September 17th at 8:30 AM in the Media Center. Parents and guardians are invited to come to learn more about what our PTO does to support our students, faculty and schoolwide programs. It is through the support of the PTO that we can provide many of the recognition programs and special activities for our students. The “Health Hero” team will be at our school this Wednesday. All students who have returned signed consent forms will receive their free flu shot on Wednesday. There is still time to bring the completed and signed form in if you would like your child to get their flu shot at school. Hello, Mamie Agnes Jones Families, We will continue with our state FAST Assessments this week. 4th grade will be taking their Math Assessment on Tuesday, 9/10, and 3rd grade students will have their Math Assessment on Thursday, 9/12. 3rd and 4th grade students will also be taking their science baseline assessments this week and 5th grade students will be taking baseline assessments for Art, Music, and PE over the next two weeks. We have our Fall Scholastic Bookfair going on this week! All classes will have a chance to visit the bookfair during their scheduled media class time. Flyers with information about the bookfair were sent home this past week with information about making purchases online as well. Our first School Advisory Council (SAC) Meeting will take place tomorrow, Monday, September 9th beginning at 4:45 in room 9. We will be reviewing our by-laws, electing officers, reviewing current school data, our Title I plan and our budget. SAC meetings are open to all, and we encourage you to come to learn more about our school and to provide input to help us continue to improve. This week will mark the halfway point of our first quarter of instruction! Progress Reports will be published in your Parent Account this Friday, September 13th. Our PTO will hold their first general meeting on Tuesday, September 17th at 8:30 AM in the Media Center.
