Hello Mamie Agnes Jones Families, As a reminder, there will be no school tomorrow, Monday, September 2nd. I hope everyone is enjoying the Labor Day weekend! This will be a short, but important week as our students in grades 3, 4 and 5 begin their first round of state testing. All 3 grade levels will be taking the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) for Reading this week and 5th grade students will also complete their Math Assessments. You can find information regarding these assessments online at https://flfast.org/families.html. Our fall Scholastic Book Fair will take place next week. Be on the lookout for the bookfair flyer that will be coming home this week. Our first School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting will take place on Monday, September 9th beginning at 4:45 PM in room 9. The responsibility of the SAC is to provide parents, community members, faculty and staff with an opportunity to participate in the development of educational priorities, assessment of our school's needs, and identification of local resources. Meetings are open to everyone and I encourage you to consider attending! We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Tuesday morning to continue Making Amazing Gains in Classrooms - MAGIC!!!

Hello Mamie Agnes Jones Families, You should have received the following information from the district regarding Title IX: "Your child has a right to be safe at school and learn in an environment free from sexual discrimination and harassment. These rights are rooted in Title IX, a federal civil rights law that makes sex-based discrimination and harassment illegal in schools. To assist with equipping students with this information, we have created three age-appropriate videos for each grade-level that discuss Title IX and the resources that students have to report concerns. Over the next few weeks, schools will be reaching out to families regarding when their video presentations are taking place. We wanted to ensure you had the opportunity to view these videos in advance. There are three videos, and each one is geared toward a specific grade band: elementary, middle, high. They can be found at www.duvalschools.org/titleix. We encourage you to watch these videos with your children. If you would like your child to view the video in school, no further action is required. If you would like to opt your child out of watching the video in school, you can submit a Parent Opt-Out form. You will find this form in Focus under Forms. It is titled 'Title IX Grade Level Video Viewing.' " We will be showing the elementary videos to our students on Tuesday, September 3rd. If you do not want your child to view the video at school, please be sure to complete the opt out form as indicated above. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Regards,

Good evening M. A. J. Families! We had a terrific first week of school as we focused on learning and reviewing our rituals and routines. We had our Code of Conduct Assemblies and practiced a Lockdown Drill. As we move into week 2, we will begin working on Baseline Assessments which will help us to understand our students' learning strengths and needs as we plan instruction. If you have not already done so, please download the new DCPS application. This will be the best source to receive information from the school and your child's teacher(s). In the bottom right corner of the app, select rooms, and then DCPS Parents to link to your child's classroom and groups. From the menu, you can also access PikMyKid to make updates to your child's dismissal. If you are having difficulty connecting in PikMyKid, please log in to your parent OneView account to verify the phone number and email address. Please mark your calendars and make plans to attend our Title I Annual Meeting and schoolwide Open House on Thursday, August 29th. Our Title I Annual Meeting will begin at 5:30 PM in the cafeteria. Entrance will be through the cafeteria doors on the East side of the school. We will provide information about our Title I program, resources, budget and events planned. Open House will begin at 6:00 PM and entry will be through the front doors of the school. We will have 3 rotations beginning at 6:00, 6:30, and 7:00 PM to accommodate our families with multiple children. I hope you have a good evening. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning at Mamie Agnes Jones where we are Making Amazing Gains In Classrooms (MAGIC)!!

Good evening MAJFamilies! We are excited to welcome everyone back for the first day of school tomorrow! As a reminder, our school day is from 8:30 am - 3:00 pm. Please do not drop students off before 8:00 am as there is no supervision for them unless they are enrolled in morning extended day. Parents will be allowed to walk their children to their classrooms tomorrow morning for their first day of school between 8:00 and 8:30. Our PTO will have a "Tears and Cheers" time in the media center for parents after you drop your child off. Parents, please ensure your child's teacher knows how your child will be going home tomorrow and for the rest of the school year. Please find your child's bus number, especially if you plan your drop them off, but they will ride the bus home! This information can be updated in Pikmykid. Hello MAJ Families! As we head into the new school year, I wanted to share an important update regarding school communications. All communication will take place through the DCPS app, or email. If you had the previous version of the DCPS application downloaded, you can delete it as it is now obsolete. The new application is available and you may download it, but please know it is not fully functional yet. In the near future, you will have access to "Rooms" which will be the primary source for classroom information. In order to receive messages, you will need to have a linked parent account and you will need to know your login credentials (the email and password you used to set up your account). We look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow between 1:30 and 2:30 to meet your teachers and drop off school supplies if you would like! Have a wonderful evening!
